With Sparkman & Stevens as the designer, the Hughes 38 was often called a 'Gentleman's Racer', capable of both heavy weather and good presentation in a club race. She has a roomy, fully enclosed cockpit with Edson wheel steering. Her decks were professionally redone 4 years ago, new cockpit cushions in 2004 and in 2005 a new mast, boom, wire standing rigging and mainsail were added. With two anchors and windlass, docklines, flares, numerous spare parts and galley items, she is ready to sail away. This classic sailing vessel, with her many upgrades and immaculatly clean interior would make an excellent live-a-board, cruiser or club showpiece.
