A personal watercraft (also known by the generic term "jet ski" and the acronym "PWC") is an inboard vessel less than 13 feet in length, that uses an internal combustion engine to power a water jet as its primary source of propulsion. It has no open load carrying area that could retain water and is operated with a person or persons positioned on, rather than within the confines of the hull.
