Trawlers are named because of their similarity in looks to a commercial fishing vessel that uses "trawling" as a method of fishing. A true cruising trawler has a displacement hull, with a raised pilothouse and has a "stand-up" engine/mechanical room under the salon. These boats are generally powered by a single engine and have a large fuel capacity, thus giving them extremely long range cruising capabilities. This boat design has been proven to be very seaworthy.
